Winter’s End was inspired by Mammoth Lakes in California. It is a special place to me as well because I visited near there when I went backpacking in 2014. I did a section of John Muir Trail for 10 days, over 100 miles and over several summits, starting in Yosemite National Park & out into John Muir Wilderness and towards Bishop/Mammoth Lakes. It was my first time backpacking. I sure learned a lot on that trip (along with painful blisters!) but I will never forget the experience, nor the splendorful views.. I’ve never felt so alive and at one with nature before.
I saw this beautiful photograph of Mammoth Lakes that was taken by Mike Van Echten’s (Instagram: @routed.wild) photograph. The permission was obtained from him to paint as the inspiration for “Winter’s End”.
Snowy mountain peaks overlooking the river running through the valley and hints of spring time soon to come as to signal that the winter has come to end is the main description behind this yoga mat.
Namaste,
Emily
